What the heck happened to September? It's a super-blustery October day here and the weather is turning (meaning it's 75 degrees instead of 95 degrees). Whatever, I'll take it! After several days out of town, I found myself in the mood to cook last night. So I shut my laptop at 4:00 and got started on some homemade pizza dough while Ben finished his nap. I don't normally include a lot of food photos in my project life album, but our meal last night was really informed by what was happening outside of the kitchen: my mood improving and me wanting to cook again (hello, second trimester), the weather changing (hello, October), and Nick being able to get home before 6:00 (hello, never happens!). I managed to snap a few photos of the process with my phone, which I'll incorporate somehow in this week's project life layout. Hello, everyday photos!
one / kneading the dough
two / ready to bake
three / ready to eat
In case you're curious, I use Ina Garten's pizza dough recipe (so easy if you have a mixer with a dough hook). For these pizzas, I sauteed a few organic + gluten free chicken apple sausages, pulled them out of the pan, then sauteed a sliced onion and some artichoke hearts. When those were soft, I added a few tablespoons of mascarpone cheese and mixed everything together. I brushed the pizzas with olive oil, topped them with the sausage and veggie mixture, then sprinkled them with mozzerella cheese. Baked the pizzas at 500 degrees for about 15 minutes.
Not exactly sure how I'll incorporate this "story" into my project life album, but it feels very right now, if you know what I mean. Are there any meals you've had recently that reveal more about your life than just what's on that table?
